First Impressions by Charlie Lovett Book Review

First, I'm a huge Jane Austin fan.  Next, I love re-imagining the past and adding in new stories.  And third, I a sucker for British romance novels (my dad is British…I grew up spending a lot of time there and interacting with their media).

First Impressions by Charlie Lovett is a little silly but utterly charming.  We follow two narratives…a new romance (or two..that complicated getting to the right man thing) and a look back at Jane Austin and how she became a novelist.

The relationships in the modern time are very much what we'd recognize….games….deception and missing the obvious right one.  Heading back to Austin and her maturing into a real novelist we find a mentor…whom she loves in a different way…that helps her achieve the greatness within her.

The plot?  Did Austin really come up with the plot for Pride and Prejudice or did she steal it?  And will our heroine, Janeite, a young and recent graduate, discover the truth before she loses her life in pursuit? And will she herself find love in the process?

Read it!
