Book Review: The Dressmaker by Rosalie Ham

The Dressmaker by Rosalie Ham is a delightful book.  Tilly Dunnage has escaped her small town, one that essentially cast her out.  Having worked as a master dressmaker for top couture houses in Paris, she’s come back home to deal with her ailing and not so mentally there mother.

Or has she?  Tilly settles into a routine and begins to reconnect locally, including starting a romance with Teddy, a local football star who likewise has had to deal with his own fair share of issues with the judgmental locals.

Tilly’s dresses become popular…but she has an endgame in mind that will surprise all.

The book is currently being made into a movie with Kate Winslet and Liam Hemsworth.

It’s actually a sweet and sentimental story.  We never can leave our past behind.  Dunnage handles her characters with grace.
